Message of Masoud President Barzani on the 8th Anniversary of the Sinjar Massacre.

President Barzani, “The crime of genocide in Sinjar is another deep wound in the history of  the Kurdish People”

‏Today marks the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attack on Sinjar.  The crime of genocide in Sinjar is another deep wound in the history of  the Kurdish people.  In this tragedy, our Yazidi brothers and sisters were attacked by terrorists because they were Kurds and because of their religion and beliefs.  What the criminals of ISIS committed against our Yazidi brothers and sisters was a continuation of the series of tragedies and crimes committed against the Kurdish people throughout history.

‏ On the occasion of Sinjar massacre, it is regrettable that despite the agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi  Federal government on the future and management of Sinjar, the agreement has not yet been implemented.  The first step in healing the wounds of Sinjar is to return Sinjar to its original owners and the forces and militias that have taken over Sinjar to leave Sinjar and implement the Sinjar agreement.  Measures must also be taken to prevent the repetition of tragedies, oppression and crimes against the Yazidis and other communities.

‏ On this sad day, we commemorate the martyrs and victims of Sinjar.  We also commemorate the martyrs and heroic Peshmergas who protected Mount Sinjar with their blood and broke the siege of terrorists on Mount Sinjar and liberated the city of Sinjar from terrorists.

‏ Paying respect to the souls of the martyrs of Sinjar and all the martyrs of the Kurdistan freedom movement.
