Fazil Mirani, head of the Political Bureau’s Standing Committee, welcomed Yann Braem, France’s Consul General in Erbil.

During the meeting, Mirani highlighted the current situation in the Kurdistan Region in particular, as well as in federal Iraq, the wider region, and the world. He said, “The world and the region are going through a sensitive situation. Events and changes are rapid, and they must be dealt with wisely.”

Regarding the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Mirani noted that the KDP’s dialogue with Kurdistan’s political forces and parties is ongoing. He added that efforts and dialogue among all political forces and parties in Kurdistan and Iraq also continue toward forming the federal Iraqi government. He expressed hope that the next federal government would resolve outstanding issues—especially those between Baghdad and Erbil—and work to implement the articles of Iraq’s federal constitution.

Mirani also referred to relations between the Kurdistan Region and France, as well as the ties between the Kurdish and French peoples, describing them as historic and strong.

For his part, Yann Braem thanked Mirani for the meeting and warm welcome. He voiced hope that Kurdistan and its people would continue to progress, and that relations between the Kurdistan Region and France would keep developing across all fields.
