Content of the Phone Conversation Between President Barzani and the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for Syria

On the evening of Monday, January 26, 2026, President Masoud Barzani held a phone call with Ambassador Tom Barrack, President Trump’s Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs.

During the call, they discussed the situation and the latest developments in the region in general, and in Syria in particular. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining and upholding the ceasefire currently in place between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syrian government forces.

They also underscored the importance of delivering humanitarian assistance to Rojava (Western Kurdistan)—especially to Kobani—and ensuring that such aid continues uninterrupted.
