Content of the Phone Call Between President Barzani and the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs

On Friday, January 30, 2026, President Masoud Barzani held a phone call with Mr. Tom Barrack, President Trump’s Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs.

During the call, Mr. Barrack conveyed his gratitude and best regards to President Barzani, on behalf of himself and the President of the United States, in recognition of Barzani’s role in supporting a ceasefire and encouraging dialogue between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). He also praised President Barzani’s efforts in facilitating the agreement reached on Friday between the Syrian government and the SDF.

President Barzani expressed his appreciation to the President of the United States and to all parties involved in resolving differences through dialogue. He welcomed the January 30 agreement as an important step toward advancing peace.

President Barzani also thanked Mr. Barrack, commending his significant role in helping to secure these understandings and in promoting stability and peace in the region, particularly in Syria.
