President Barzani Receives Deputy Speaker of North Rhine–Westphalia State Parliament

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Pirmam, President Masoud Barzani received Ms. Berivan Aymaz, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of North Rhine–Westphalia, Germany.

Ms. Aymaz expressed her pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and meeting President Barzani. She thanked him for his recent advocacy on behalf of the Kurdish cause in Rojava (western Kurdistan) and commended his efforts to protect the Kurdish people there. She also expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Barzani Charity Foundation to victims in western Kurdistan, and voiced hope that the Kurdistan Region will continue to grow stronger. In addition, Ms. Aymaz thanked President Barzani for his support for Kurdish diaspora affairs, describing the diaspora as an influential force and an important supporter of the Kurdish cause.

President Barzani welcomed Ms. Aymaz and congratulated her on attaining a senior political position in Germany through her efforts and capabilities, wishing her continued success. He also discussed matters related to the Kurdish diaspora and offered guidance, emphasizing the importance of preserving Kurdish identity and language among Kurds living abroad.

The meeting also addressed the situation in Rojava and the peace process in Turkey.
