Nechirvan Barzani: Problems of Erbil and Baghdad will be resolved on the basis of the Iraqi constitution

After the meetings of the third and final day of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, made a press statement to a number of Kurdish media channels, during which he talked about the meetings of the last three days with senior officials of different countries of the world and the situation of the region, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

"The Munich Security Conference was an opportunity for us to hold a series of meetings, PM Mentioned "during the past few days we had several meetings with Dr. Haidar al-Abadi, Prime Minister of Iraq. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, MacMaster, US National Security Advisor, Defense Ministers of Sweden, Germany, Italy, official from EU  and a number of countries. The meeting with Haider Abadi was good, but It was not the meeting that we can say that we have reached a solution to all the problems. What is important now is that the door of dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad is open and our meetings are scheduled to continue so that we can at least find technical solutions to some of the problems that exist before the next elections. The Budgets and salaries of civil servant and the reopening of airports were discussed and we will continue until a solution is reached with them. "

On his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, PM said: "What we discussed with the Iranian Foreign Minister was within the framework of the topics we discussed with the other parties, Iran as our neighbor we discussed the bilateral relations between the two sides. We were planned to meet in Tehran But the opportunity was not available while I was there and we decided there to meet in Munich. "

The substance of his meeting with Mr. Joe Biden, former Vice President of the United States and we exchange views on the position of the United States in assisting Erbil and Baghdad to address outstanding issues and find solution.  "Mr. Joe Biden is not an official position in the US government, our meeting with him as a friend of the Kurdish people whom wants to solve the problems between Erbil and Baghdad, "We have explained to him the situation and promised to present these problems to the American Democratic Party and stressed that his party will help in resolving the problems between Erbil and Baghdad."

In response to a question concerning the promises made by Mr. Haider al-Abadi abroad, which relate to solving problems with the Kurdistan Region, negotiation will continue till we reach an agreement.  Answering question about whether the Kurdistan Region has pressure papers? Mr. Nechivran Barzani pointed out that "the problems between us and Baghdad are not solved by playing pressure cards, but must solve the problems between us on the basis of the Iraqi constitution, the Constitution has identified ways to solve problems, and we hope to solve the problems between Erbil and Baghdad within the framework of the Constitution that voted for by the people of Iraq, we are hopeful  to be able to reach those solutions. "

Our visits to France Germany and the meeting with His Holiness in Vatican, in the restoration of the political role of the Kurdistan Region abroad is the task that awaits us to work on it and  is that we can solve the problems with Baghdad and solve the internal problems in the Kurdistan Region, no doubt we will focus on them today.
