President Masoud Barzani received Ambassador of Italy to Iraq

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, President Masoud Barzani received Ambassador Maurizio Greganti, Ambassador of Italy to Iraq and an accompanying delegation.

The Italian Ambassador to Iraq expressed his pleasure to meet President Barzani again and congratulated him and the entire people of Kurdistan on the occasion of Newroz.

President Barzani thanked the Italian Ambassador for his congratulations on the occasion of Newroz, and said that Newroz is a symbol of victory over darkness for the Kurds by lighting the flame of freedom and peace.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the political process and the Kurdistan parliamentary elections. Regarding the statement of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) not to participate in the elections, President Barzani said that the KDP has always sought solutions to provide stability in the country and consolidate democracy in accordance with the provisions of the 2005 Iraqi constitution.

President Barzani stressed the need to protect the constitutional structure of the Kurdistan Region and all the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people, because the structure is enshrined in the constitution and has been achieved as a result of a long and continuous struggle.
