The Kurdistan Democratic Party Spokesman (KDP) issued a statement.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party Spokesman (KDP) issued a statement following the announcement of the date of the next Kurdistan parliamentary elections by the President of the Kurdistan Region:

The beloved People of Kurdistan

In 2022, our party tried to start the necessary measures for holding elections of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament before the dissolution of the fifth term Parliament, but Unfortunately, many obstacles were created, which were  detriment to the political and legal process for the Kurdistan Region and had a negative impact on the power and rights of the Kurdistan Region. After that, we tried to defer the existing proposals to the elected parliament to resolve them legally, which was prevented.

Therefore, on March 18, 2024, our party announced its position to the People of Kurdistan by identifying and pointing out the shortcomings and injustices that existed regarding the rights of the components, the fingerprint issue and attempts to deprive hundreds of thousands of people of voting. These and many other issues related to the procedures of the electoral process, which after this position of our party, some of these concerns and shortcomings were resolved and some of them are being resolved. Although all the issues were not resolved satisfactorily, but some of the rights of the components of Kurdistan have been returned and other issues have been resolved. Therefore, after the announcement of the date of the elections of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament by the President of the Kurdistan Region, our party  starts preparations for the parliamentary elections. We hope that a democratic, clean and fair election will be held that the results will be in the interest of the people of Kurdistan.
