During the meeting, which I had the honor of attending, Mr. Mirani warmly welcomed the Russian Consul General and expressed his appreciation for his efforts to further strengthen the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Russian Federation. He noted that bilateral relations are currently at a high level and continue to develop positively.
Mr. Mirani also briefed the Consul on the current situation in the Kurdistan Region and the wider region, with particular emphasis on the dynamics between Erbil and Baghdad, recent developments in Syria and Turkey, and their implications for the Kurdish people.
Regarding the formation of the new regional government, Mr. Mirani stated that discussions among political parties are progressing constructively and expressed his hope that a new government would be formed in the near future.
For his part, Consul General Rubin thanked Mr. Mirani for the warm reception and reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historic ties between Russia and the Kurdistan Region. He underscored the importance his country places on these relations and conveyed his best wishes for continued progress, prosperity, and stability in Kurdistan.
