Erling Folkvord's commitment to justice and his genuine friendship with Kurdistan were hallmarks of his character.

A former Storting (Norwegian parliament) representative and a staunch advocate for the Kurds in Scandinavia, Erling Folkvord, passed away on Friday. He was in Stockholm working on a book project concerning Kurdistan and Palestine at the time of his death.

Due to his outspoken criticism of the treatment of Kurds, Folkvord faced travel bans and deportation from some neighboring states. He dedicated himself to combating corruption and abuses of power, and he was deeply committed to the Kurdish cause.

For the past 30 years, Folkvord tirelessly championed Kurdish rights in the Middle East. He extensively documented Kurdish oppression, including in his book "Kurdistan: Past, Present, and Future." Additionally, he conducted numerous interviews with Kurdish leaders and made multiple trips to different parts of Kurdistan.

Folkvord strongly believed that the international community had a moral obligation to support Kurdish aspirations for statehood and self-governance on their ancestral lands.

With deep sorrow, we bid farewell to Erling Folkvord, a devoted and unwavering ally of Kurdistan. His unwavering principles and steadfast moral compass guided his relentless support for the Kurdish cause.
