The Kurdistan Democratic Party participates in the International Democratic Union Forum held in New Zealand.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) actively participated in the International Democracy Union (IDU) forum held in New Zealand, themed "Faster Coordination between Asia-Pacific Countries." Led by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, the 2024 IDU forum was hosted by the New Zealand National Party.

Representing the KDP, Ms. Zozan Berwari engaged in discussions with notable figures including Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, IDU Chairman Stephen Harper, former Canadian Prime Minister, former Australian Prime Minister John Winston, New Zealand National Party President Silvia Wood, and New Zealand Defense Minister and Attorney-General Judith Collins, among others. Berwari addressed the latest developments in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of political party coordination to promote peace, democracy, and stability while confronting threats posed by terrorism, militia groups, and outlaws. Highlighting the significance of international support, Berwari, on behalf of the KDP leadership, called for increased assistance to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to overcome existing challenges hindering progress and development.

Stephen Harper, current Chairman of the IDU and former Prime Minister of Canada, expressed gratitude to the Kurdistani people and President Barzani for their pivotal role in combating terrorism. The IDU remains committed to supporting the Kurdistan Region within a democratic Iraq, enabling the Iraqi people to chart their future and realize their national aspirations.

During this year's IDU meeting, a crucial focus was placed on enhancing coordination among democratic parties and governments to foster global stability. Participants recognized the interconnectedness of local conflicts with global stability, particularly in the Middle East. Emphasizing the importance of respecting national sovereignty, discussions highlighted the imperative of resolving regional conflicts. Zozan Berwari addressed the relentless attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Kurdistan Region and Erbil, resulting in civilian casualties and instilling fear among residents. Former Prime Minister Ireland President of the Patron Organization for Global Development Support, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to supporting nations striving for peace and democracy.

Ms. Berwari expressed gratitude to the conference organizers, underscoring the Kurdistan Democratic Party's pride in its affiliation with the IDU and other organizations dedicated to fostering peaceful coexistence among peoples. She stressed the need for increased coordination to safeguard achieved advancements and further progress.
