Kurdistan Democratic Party Politico Bureau Statement on PUK-Gorran Alliance

Following the agreement that formed an alliance between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Gorran Movement Party, the Politico Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party held a meeting on 18 May and released a statement as follows:

The Kurdistan Democratic Party views the PUK-Gorran alliance as completely normal and healthy that it serves the interests of the people of Kurdistan and the unification of these parties can contribute to resolving the internal differences not only political party advantage but to abide by conventions and bilateral agreements between two or more parties. There is a component within the agreement as signed by the PUK-Gorran that does not serve to resolve complex issues but leads us back to the hindmost situation which will ultimately face us with various obstacles and will cause undesirable circumstances.

The PUK signed an agreement with another party without taking into consideration the joint-strategic alliance with the KDP, knowing that this party was resentful to policy and thus became part of the problem, other than the former when he was part of the Union and the KDP are working together to solve problems in the region. The KDP refuses to state that the will of the people will only suffice as previous experience has shown that the administration of the province without KDP is substantially hard and very difficult. The KDP is sensitive to the current situation in the Kurdistan region and will generally be resilient to any efforts to destabilise the security, political and administrative process in the region and attempts to weaken the will and morale of the Peshmerga forces fighting against our enemies, the KDP is persistent on defending the humanity and freedom coinciding with military personnel. The Kurdistan Democratic Party also insists on not wasting the blood of our heroes from the Peshmerga forces, but for freedom, and should be for the people of Kurdistan to show the world their will through a referendum and legal means.

It is with thanks to God Almighty for blessing the Kurdistan region for being able to remain secure and stable for the sake of its people and therefore the KDP believes it should combine all efforts in order to maintain the state-level of being safe, and to resolve problems and protect the territory.
