Hungary to continue supporting the people of Kurdistan

The Consul General of Hungary in Erbil, Dr Csaba Vezekenyi, said that his government will continue to support the people of Kurdistan, the regional government and its Peshmerga forces. This came during a meeting with Hemin Hawrami, Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest political and military developments in the region where Dr Vezekenyi affirmed Hungary's commitment to provide ongoing administrative and humanitarian support. He further praised the courage of Peshmerga forces for their success in defeating terrorism and indicated that his government will supply military arsenal to them in addition to trainers and strategy experts.

Speaking on the financial assistant to the Kurdistan Regional Government, he noted on his country's foreign minister's recent meeting with the European Union which discussed providing financial aid to the region where it was stressed that it is currently hosting over 180,000 refugees and displaced people.

For his part, Mr Hawrami expressed thanks toward the Hungarian government and the their people for supporting the Kurdistan region and added that the KDP takes a resolving approach to all political differences.
