Hemin Hawrami discussed the latest political and security situation in the Kurdistan region during a meeting with Eric Brown and Samuel Tadros from the Hudson Institute - an American based conservative think tank.
Mr Hawrami stressed that the people of Kurdistan will ultimately have the chance to decide on their destiny as the impending Kurdish referendum is reaching advanced stages. He said that the Kurds will struggle to achieve peace and freedom if they remain a part of Iraq.
Speaking about the military and security progress, both sides expressed praise for the Peshmerga forces and touched on plans to defeat extremism.
The Hudson Institute is preparing a study on Kurdistan as part of their trip.
