Hawrami: It's time for the Kurdish people to decide their future

Hawrami reiterated his thoughts on Kurdish independence saying the people have complete freedom of choice to pursue destiny, and the leadership of the Kurdistan Region must respect the people’s decision – as Kurds have struggled with decades of hardship for freedom and peace.

These words came during a meeting with a delegation from the United States’ Consulate General office to Kurdistan: deputy Consulate General, Roy A. Perrin and his accompanying delegation. The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office thanked the U.S. government for their role and support for the Kurdish people against the terrorist organisation Daesh.

Hawrami spoke on the current political developments within the KDP, and touched the situation on issues surrounding Kurdistan, emphasising on the rights of the Kurdish people to define their future after years of war and freedom for peace. 

Mr Perrin thanked the people of Kurdistan and praised their commitment and courage which wowed the world on their response to terror. He stressed that the U.S. will continue to support the and assist the Peshmerga in their against Daesh, and Kurdistan is considered as an ally of the United States.
