Hawrami: President Barzani’s initiative contributes to resolving political differences in Kurdistan and Iraq

Hemin Hawrami said that the initiative put forward by President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani will contribute to finding solutions to the political disagreements between the political parties, as well as disputes with the federal government in Baghdad.

Mr Hawrami, Head of KDP’s Foreign Relations Office made the comments during his meeting  with US Vice Consul General to Kurdistan Henry Haggard and his delegation accompanying, adding that the KDP's policy towards these issues will be complementary to what results in President Barzani's initiative and works in the light of these situations.

He thanked the United States's role in the eradication terrorism and wished for further support to continue in leading to the impending Mosul liberation process.

Hawrami said a political agreement must be reached before any military operation can begin in liberating Iraq's strategic second city from IS jihadists.

For his part, the US Vice Consul General praised valiantly the Peshmerga's efforts in the war against terrorism while he stressed additional support and assistance in order to eradicate terrorism, adding that the US will deliver further aid.

He also asked the parties and political forces to sit at the negotiating table to resolve differences.
