Mr Hawrami thanked Mr Gethins, a British Member of Parliament, for his visit to Kurdistan and expressed gratitude toward the Scottish National Party, before reflected on the military and security progress and said that the Iraqi government is failing to abide by their principles in supporting the Kurds who are fighting against Islamic State terrorists. He added that the Kurds have long-suffered for generations under brutality of successive Iraqi governments.
The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office pointed out that continuing with the current situation with the Iraqi government is irrelevant and is having a negative effect on progress. Mr Hawrami mentioned that the KDP believe it is difficult to reach any agreements or solutions with a failing Iraqi government and the situation will inevitably change after ISIS has been eliminated.
For his part, Mr Gethins thanked Mr Hawrami for the warm reception, and stressed his party's support for referendum in Kurdistan where the Kurdish administration has excellent experience in this field.
