Britain's Liberal Democrat Party supports the rights of Kurdish people

By official invitation Sherko Habeb, a member of Kurdistan Democretic Party's Foreign Relations Office participated at the Liberal Democrat party conference on behalf of the Foreign Relations Office. The Lib Dems annual conference was held in the city of Brighton and lasted for three days, beginning on September 17th.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen diplomatic ties between the KDP and the Lib Dems, by ways of meeting several party officials to discuss the cooperation and find new ways in which the Lib Dems can help support the rights of the Kurdish people. 

Several topics they discussed were the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, the internal situation in Kurdistan, and the upcoming independence referendum of Kurdistan. The Lib Dem officials in these meetings were: Ozkan Duman Counsellor at Turkish Embassy to London, Jessup Taylor, second secretary U.S Embassy to London, Lord Wallace of Saltaire, Rt Hon Baroness Northover, Prime Ministers’ Envoy to Angola.

During the reception, which was specifically for the foreign delegates, Mr Habeb met with the the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Rt Hon Tem Farron, who passed on his greetings to President Barzani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party leadership, wishing their conference success, and said they will support the rights of the Kurdish people and will support the referendum.
