Hawrami says Kurds are looking to resolve differences with Baghdad through peaceful dialogue

Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani is visiting Baghdad for talks on resolving the outstanding issues and the administrative process after liberating Mosul, Hemin Hawrami says after meeting the Head of UN Office in Erbil, Ricardo Rodriguez.

Mr Hawrami highlighted the extent of Mr Barzani's visit and said he'll also be holding talks with Iraqi Prime Minister and representatives of political parties in separate meetings.

The Head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office said Kurds always look to resolve differences using peaceful dialogue and democratic measures as tensions between the governments of Kurdistan and Iraq are at stalemate despite ample opportunities to settle their disputes.

Both sides also discussed the impending recapturing of Mosul, which has been under Islamic State occupation for over two years and the aftermath, where Kurds and Iraqis are yet to agree in principle on the governance of the city post-liberation.

The KDP FRO’s head said that president and accompanying delegation discuss the differences between the two sides and ways to resolve these differences through dialogue and mutual understanding between the two sides

They also discussed the process of liberalization of Mosul and how to cooperate for the success of the operation and the elimination of ISIS terrorism in the region.

For his part, Mr Rodriguez praised the visit of Mr Barzani to Baghdad and express hope that problems will be solved amicably, adding that the Kurds are highly valued for resorting to find solutions peacefully.
