The Chancellor and Head of Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani said the elimination of the Islamic State is inevitable as the international coalition is moving closer to liberating Mosul with the assistance of Kurdish Peshmerga forces.
He made the comments during a meeting with the British Ambassador to Turkey, Richard Moore, to discuss Britain's role leading to the impending offensive to destroy IS extremists from Iraq's second city. They discussed the coordination with Iraq's military in connection to the upcoming battle.
Ambassador Moore said, "I do not doubt Daesh will be eliminated, but the most important thing is how to work in order to restore confidence between the components of Iraq and restore security, stability and peace."
Mr Barzani stressed the need for agreement among all the components of the Nineveh province to manage the post-defeat of IS.
He pointed out that the leadership of the Kurdistan Peshmerga to communicate and coordinate continuously with Iraqi military leaders and the international coalition against terrorism on the battle of Mosul.
Peshmerga forces will play a pivotal role in supporting the Iraqi forces in the impending attack on the city of Mosul, which military officials stating that they are likely to begin in mid-next month.
