Hawrami: Tensions between Erbil and Baghdad ease after President Barzani's visit

Hemin Hawrami said during a meeting with Chinese Consul General to Erbil, Tan Banglin, that the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces will be involved in the liberation operation of Mosul, along with Iraqi and Coalition forces-led support to regain the city from Islamic State terrorists.

The Head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office also spoke about the President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani's recent visit to Baghdad for talks on improving diplomatic ties with Erbil. Mr Hawrami said it was positive, they encouraged ways to strengthen relations between the two governments.

He then moved on to thank the Chinese government and their people for supporting Kurdistan militarily and from a humanitarian aspect. China has supplied substantive equipment to the region and has provided aid for the huge number of displaced people.

For his part, Mr Banglin emphasised that his government will continue to support to the people of Kurdistan while praising the courage of Peshmerga forces and the Kurds in countering the Islamic State.

The two sides also discussed several issues of mutual interest and ways to enhance relations between Kurdistan and China.
