By official invitation to attend the 29th annual conference of the ruling Christian Democratic Union Party in Germany, a Kurdistan Democratic Party delegation led by Hemin Hawrami participated at the event held in the western city of Essen on 6 December.
Mr Hawrami met with senior figures in the German government, its Parliament and other CDU delegates for talks on the current military and political situation in the Kurdistan Region. They discussed the role of President Massoud Barzani on the liberation process in Mosul and the war against the Islamic extremists where they expressed praised for his commitment to fighting for freedom and democracy.
The Head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office highlighted the developments of Peshmerga forces and of the region's relationship with Baghdad, where he said both sides are aiming to make progress of restoring economic stability.
CDU delegates also hailed the courage and sacrifices made by Peshmerga and admired the Kurdistan Region's management of the enormous numbers of refugees and displaced people amidst handling its own domestic affairs.
The KDP delegation was the only Kurdish participants who were invited to attend the conference. Mr Sadalha Brwari head of KDP local committee in Dusseldorf accompanied Mr Hawrami at the event
The Christian Democratic Union was founded in Germany on 26 June 1945 and its current leader is Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has been reelected for a fourth successive term.
