Barzani meets US veterans from 1991 Gulf war to mark 25th anniversary

President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani received a number of former generals and military officials in the US Army and international coalition forces, who were active in 1991 Gulf War in determining the safe area and to protect the territory of Kurdistan.

Led by General J. Garner, the US delegation will visit other areas in Kurdistan region to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary that established the safe-haven by the UN Security Council.

In the meeting, the delegation gave thanks to President Barzani, and stressed that the Kurds are the only ones who are their friends, and spoke proudly of their support and assistance to the people of Kurdistan in 1991 and expressed their happiness that the region has constructed in the 25 years past.

At the end of the meeting, President Barzani affirmed the strength and durability of the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the international coalition in defeating terrorism and wiping out Islamic extremism. He said that on a number of occasions the United States has providing all necessary assistance and to that the region is thankful for.
