KDP and Free Democratic Party of Germany emphasise bilateral relations

Hemin Hawrami received a delegation from Germany's Free Democratic Party for talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations with the Kurdistan Region as well as political, economic and cultural fields were emphasised.

Mr Hawrami, the Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office, said the region values the importance of diplomatic ties with Germany and noted on recent visits by senior German political figures to the region, which has contributed to improved friendship between both sides.

The German delegation, led by Tobias Huch, political advisor to the leader of the FDP, reflected on the latest political and military situation with Mr Hawrami and touched on relations with the central government in Baghdad.

Mr Hawrami went on to express thanks on behalf of the KDP to the German government for their support and assistance they provided to the Kurdistan people during the plight of the battle against Islamic extremists.

For his part, Mr Huch hailed the victories of the Peshmerga forces against terrorism, and said Germany admires the peaceful co-existence and fraternity in Kurdistan, while praising the role of the government and the people of Kurdistan for hosting the rising number of refugees.
