Deputy German Consul hails Peshmerga sacrifices in meeting with Hawrami

Hemin Hawrami praised Germany for their humanitarian support and military aid after meeting with the Deputy Consul General to Erbil, Cristofer Burger, for talks on the latest political climate in the Kurdistan Region.

The Head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office thanked the German government for their role in helping Peshmerga forces battle against Islamic fundamentalists in the past two years, which has seen successful recapturing of strategic areas across Kurdistan and northern Iraq. They are now at the stage of helping to liberate Mosul with the additional support of allied forces.

Mr Hawrami added that a high-level delegation from the KDP visited all parties for talks on how parties are addressing differences with other political groups after President Massoud Barzani's initiative to resolve all outstanding issues.

Mr Burger reaffirmed his country's support toward the Kurdistan Region and hailed the courage of Peshmerga troops, emphasising that they were the first force to fight against the terrorist organisation Islamic State.
