Hoshyar Siwaily meets Jeff Mazur, senior political officer at Consulate General of the United States of America- Erbil.

Mr. Mazur started the meeting by congratulating Mr. Siwaily on his new appointment as the head of Foreign Relations Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. Mr. Siwaily highlighted the recent developments in Kurdistan amongst the political parties in regards to the referendum have been very fruitful and will continue as promised. Cross party committees have been formed to address the next steps. It was expressed on both sides the importance of continued coordination and dialogue by all parties and partners in the region. During the meeting, it was also addressed that a plan for ‘post Mosul’ had not been properly constructed.

Mr. Siwaily shared KDP’s stance and as well, the stance of the Kurdistan Region on the future and importance of allowing the people of the area to have the opportunity to make the decision on their future. The future of Mosul is a concern for all players and stakeholders in and around the region. Other points of discussion included: Kurdish flag in Kirkuk, PKK involvement in Sinjar, recent US intervention in Syria. Mr. Mazur expressed his gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for all the support and efforts that continue. They look forward to meeting again.
