President Barzani receives the new Consul General of the Republic of Germany in Erbil

President Masoud Barzani received the new Consul General of the Republic of Germany, Mr. Albrecht von Wittke, on Wednesday, October 23, in Erbil.

During the meeting the German Consul General in Erbil congratulated President Barzani on the successful conduct of the the elections for the Sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament, describing it as an important step towards a new stage in Kurdistan’s political life.

Views and opinions were exchanged on the political situation and recent developments in Iraq and the region, and relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government, in addition to the subsequent steps that follow the Kurdistan Parliament elections, in addition to the formation of the new government.

During the meeting, President Barzani expressed his wishes for the new German Consul General in Erbil to succeed in carrying out his new duties, expressing his hope that relations between the Kurdistan Region and Germany would witness further growth and progress.
