Sweden to begin deporting Iraqi refugees

This week the Swedish government will begin deporting the first 1,000 Iraqi asylum seekers to their country, and it is believed that most of them are Kurds, said Kurdistan-based chief of the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees (IFIR). The Swedish government announced on Wednesday the plans to return 1,000 Iraqi asylum seekers to Baghdad airport weekly, added Amanj Abdullah. Abdullah also said: "The forced deportation policy continues and the Iraqi government, without paying attention to the Iraqi parliament's decision of not accepting deported asylum seekers home, agreed with the Swedish government to let deported refugees enter Iraqi soil." Around 6,000 to 7,000 asylum seekers are waiting for deportation now. These asylum seekers do not have the right to stay in Sweden.
