Distinguished guests,
Esteemed compatriots,
Beloved people of Kurdistan,
It is with great pride and deep respect that I address this distinguished gathering on the occasion of our National Day—the blessed and timeless festival of Newroz. I warmly welcome each and every one of you who have come together to celebrate this sacred symbol of our nation’s identity, resilience, and enduring hope.
I had sincerely wished to be among you today, to stand with you and share in the spirit of this vibrant and heartfelt celebration. Yet, due to prevailing circumstances and the instability affecting the region, I regret that I am unable to attend in person. Nevertheless, I remain with you in spirit, with pride, and with unwavering solidarity.
From the depths of my heart, I extend my warmest congratulations to all Kurds—those in Kurdistan, across Europe, in the United States, and throughout the world—on the arrival of Newroz. I send my heartfelt greetings to every Kurdistani family celebrating this day with dignity and pride.
Newroz: A Symbol Beyond Time
Newroz is not merely the coming of spring, nor simply a change in season or the renewal of nature. For the Kurdish people, Newroz is a profound and living symbol of rebirth, resistance, and freedom. It marks a new beginning, a horizon filled with hope, and the dawn of a future shaped by our own will.
For more than 2,700 years, the flame of Newroz has burned in the hearts of our people—an eternal fire that carries a clear and unwavering message to the world: that the Kurdish nation possesses an indomitable will, and that no force, no tyranny, and no injustice has ever succeeded in extinguishing it.
This sacred flame represents not only freedom, but also dignity, self-confidence, perseverance, and the unbreakable spirit of our people. It lives within every Kurdistani individual, reminding us of who we are, where we come from, and what we strive to achieve.
Unity: The Foundation of Our Future
Beloved and steadfast people of Kurdistan,
Wherever we may live—within Kurdistan or across the world—we are united by one fundamental truth: our shared identity as Kurds and our collective aspiration for freedom and dignity.
It is a source of immense pride to witness this great gathering in the city of Bonn. Your presence here is a powerful testament to the unity and solidarity of our nation. It demonstrates that wherever Kurds reside, they are capable of standing together—with one heart, one voice, and one purpose—in defense of their rights and their national identity.
This is the rightful path. This is the path that leads to dignity, justice, and ultimately, to freedom.
I call upon all of you to preserve, strengthen, and deepen this unity. Today, the eyes of the world are increasingly directed toward the Kurdish people. If we remain united, true to our values, and committed to supporting one another, we can be confident that the international community will stand beside us—as a friend, as a partner, and as a supporter of our just cause.
The Responsibility of the Diaspora
Europe has become a second home for many Kurds from all parts of Kurdistan. Yet I firmly believe that, despite distance, your hearts remain deeply connected to your homeland and your national cause.
I urge you to ensure that your children do not lose their language, their culture, or their identity. Language is the soul of a nation, and culture is its living memory. Every Kurd living abroad should serve as a true ambassador of our people—embodying our values, demonstrating civility, and reflecting the dignity of the Kurdish nation.
At the same time, respect the laws, systems, and traditions of the countries in which you live, for they have provided you with refuge, opportunity, and security.
Regional Developments and Kurdish Aspirations
Beloved people of Kurdistan, dear sisters and brothers,
It brings me great relief and satisfaction that Rojava (Western Kurdistan) has, to a significant extent, been spared from greater tragedy. We hope that the Syrian government, together with the United States and its allies, will respect the legitimate rights and aspirations of the Kurdish people in Syria and ensure a just and lasting solution.
We also support the peace process in Turkey and sincerely hope that it will lead to a constructive and positive outcome that serves the interests of all sides and strengthens stability in the region.
At the same time, we remain deeply concerned for our people in Eastern Kurdistan and across the region. We hope that they will be protected from the devastating consequences of war, instability, and ongoing crises.
A Message of Peace and Responsibility
At a time when our region is marked by conflict and uncertainty, and the world is undergoing profound transformations, there is an urgent need for peace, stability, and wisdom.
The Kurdish people have always carried a message of peace, coexistence, and mutual respect. Our struggle has never been about becoming a tool in the conflicts of others. Rather, it has always been about securing our rights, protecting our dignity, and building a peaceful and prosperous future for our people.
Conclusion: Hope, Unity, and Destiny
Once again, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Newroz. I wish you joy, happiness, and a year filled with success, prosperity, and renewed hope.
I call upon all of you—as sisters and brothers—to remain united, to support one another, and to place the values and principles of our national unity above all personal interests, differences, and ideologies.
The Kurdish people—both within Kurdistan and across the world—play a vital and historic role in advancing our just cause. We possess within us great strength, deep resilience, and unwavering hope.
May this Newroz and the new year bring blessings, peace, and happiness to all.
I have full confidence in the future of the Kurdish nation, and I firmly believe that success will ultimately belong to our people.
Newroz Pîroz Be!
