President Masoud Barzani delivered a video message in Kurdish to Kurds gathered in Bonn, Germany, to celebrate Newroz.

In the name of Almighty and Compassionate God,

Distinguished guests, esteemed compatriots, and beloved people of Kurdistan,

It is with great honor that I welcome you to this public gathering convened on the occasion of our National Day, the blessed Newroz festival. I had sincerely wished to be present among you today and to participate alongside you in this fervent and jubilant ceremony. However, due to the prevailing circumstances and the instability in that region, I have, regrettably, been unable to attend in person.

From the depths of my heart, I extend my most heartfelt congratulations on the advent of Newroz to you and to all our dear Kurdistanis in Kurdistan, in Europe, in America, and in every part of the world where Kurds reside.

Newroz is not merely the arrival of spring, a change of season, or the simple renewal of nature. For the people of Kurdistan, Newroz stands as a profound symbol of rebirth and freedom; it signifies a new beginning, a horizon of hope, and the dawn of a new day. Newroz is the enduring flame of aspiration that has never, at any time, ceased to burn in the pursuit of our legitimate rights and freedoms.

For more than 2,700 years, the fire of Newroz has resided in the heart of every Kurd, bearing a clear message to the entire world that this people possesses an unwavering will of its own, and that no barrier and no tyrant has ever succeeded in extinguishing that will. Newroz is a sacred flame of freedom, of self‑confidence, and of steadfastness, abiding in the innermost being of every Kurdistani individual.

Beloved and steadfast people of Kurdistan,

Wherever we Kurds may find ourselves – in Kurdistan, in Europe, in America, or in any other part of the world – a single, fundamental message unites us all: the enduring identity of Kurdishness and the noble vision of freedom.

Today, it is a source of deep satisfaction for me to behold, here in the city of Bonn in Germany, this large number of Kurdish citizens assembled together. This very gathering constitutes a manifest sign of the unity and solidarity of our nation. It demonstrates that, wherever Kurds may be, they are able to stand shoulder to shoulder, with one heart and one voice, in the defense of their rights and their national identity. This is the rightful path; this is the path that leads to deliverance and liberation.

I earnestly call upon you to safeguard, strengthen, and deepen this unity and this common voice. We are living in an era in which the eyes of the entire world are directed toward the Kurds. If we remain true to ourselves, uphold our unity, and become a firm source of support and protection for one another, then we may be confident that the international community, too, will stand by us as a friend, a partner, and a steadfast supporter.
