Hawrami cites lack of commitment to Iraqi constitution by al-Maliki for calamity in Iraqi governance

Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami met HM British Consul-General Hugh Evans  to exchange their views on the current situation in Kurdistan, Iraq, Kurdish areas outside the region and in Syria. During the meeting, Mr Hawrami emphasised the positions of the KDP on the latest developments of the delicate situation in Iraq that it is passing through a critical and sensitive stage after 2003. Adding to the crisis of governance by the federal government, Mr Hawrami cited the main reasons of such calamity is due to the lack of commitment and confidence to the constitution by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Mr Hawrami said, on early elections and demonstrations in Iraqi cities, that the party's position is open and clear, stating they are beside with elections given its law be amended and to co-operate with the demands of the legitimacy of the constitution. The British Consul-General Mr Evans expressed his concern regarding the issues in Syria, stating that the issues only seem to be escalating. They spoke of upcoming elections, that it would take place within the New Year. Elections are scheduled to commence in April and expected to last until September
