President Barzani talks Kurdistan and Iraq with world leaders in Davos

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Massoud Barzani today discussed issues concerning the Kurdistan region and Iraq with the Dutch and Lebanese prime ministers. The prime ministers their expressed admiration and appreciation toward the stability and developments in the Kurdistan region, praising the efforts of Mr Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for its progress in the region The meeting, which included Switzerland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Burkhalter, a US delegation and Head of International Committee of the Red Cross Yves Daccord, talked about current situations in Iraq, its role with the Kurds and provincial relationships with Syria. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati expressed his personal gratitude to Mr Barzani for showing support to Lebanese citizens who are working in Kurdistan, while announcing that the Lebanese government has decided to open a consulate in Kurdistan in the near future. The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said he was amazed of progress in the region and of Mr Barzani helping Syrian refugees in Kurdistan, stating his government monitors the situation in Syria closely. Mr Barzani thanked both governments in assisting the Kurdish people through difficult circumstances and providing havens for Kurdish refugees. Mr Yves Daccord showed his admiration for the president and the KRG on aiding refugees. He was later invited to visit Kurdistan, which he nobly accepted.
