Massoud Barzani met ambassadors and representatives of the European Union to iraq  to discuss matters on the current situation in Iraq and methods to find solutions to ease political tensions in the region. EU ambassadors from the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic and The Netherlands said they are worried about the current crisis in Iraq and asked for President Barzani’s opinion before an EU meeting in Brussels next week. The impact of serious talks between Iraqi parties to reach a fundamental solution to Iraqi crisis, that is causing a hindrance to democracy, will be favoured based on agreements signed by parties in the region. On the upcoming elections, the EU ambassadors desire for free and fair elections under international supervision. Mr Barzani’s reaction to the current situation in Iraq and the political changes, noted the problems faced by the political process and stressed that the crisis need to solve radically. Mr Barzani also stressed that the lack of commitment by some of the parties to the constitution led to the worsening situation. The upcoming elections ‘must be free and fair’ Mr Barzani said, and wants the European Union to play an active role on assisting the Syrian refugees in Kurdistan, where numbers have reached greater than seventy-thousand.
