President Masoud Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) always wants and is ready to hold the elections in Kurdistan on schedule.

President Masoud Barzani received Japanese Ambassador to Iraq Suziki Kotaro. In the meeting, which was attended by Arakawa Mikihiro, head of the office of Japan in Erbil, the Japanese Ambassador, while referring to the struggle of the Kurdish people to achieve freedom, praised the role of General Mustapha Barzani, President Barzani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party for their endeavours to achieve freedom and historical rights of the People of Kurdistan.

 The Japanese Ambassador to Iraq stressed that the stability of the Kurdistan Region is an important issue for his country.  He also provided a brief outline of his country's cooperation and coordination in the Kurdistan Region, Kurdish areas outside the Kurdistan Region and other parts of Iraq, in relation to public services and water and electricity supply.  President Barzani thanked the Japanese Ambassador and hoped that relations between the two countries would further develop.

 The political situation in Iraq and the elections in the Kurdistan Region were another topic of the meeting and President Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) always wants and is ready to hold the elections in Kurdistan on schedule.
