President Barzani receives Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq

President Massoud Barzani received Elbrus Kutrashev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq.

 During the meeting, which was attended by Maxim Robin, Russian Consul General in Erbil, views were exchanged on the political situation and changing equations at the global and regional levels.  They also highlighted the political process in Iraq and the efforts of the new Iraqi government to overcome obstacles and challenges.

 The meeting also discussed the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region and President Barzani stressed that no political conflict should affect the holding of elections and elections should be held in the Kurdistan Region this year.

 In another part of the meeting, the dangers of extremism and terrorism were discussed and President Barzani pointed out that the culture and beliefs of the Kurdish people did not allow extremism and terrorism to take root in Kurdish society.

 Relations between the Russian Federation, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were another topic of the meeting.
