Barzani and al-Hakim discuss political situation in Iraq

President of the Kurdistan-Region Massoud Barzani received Mr Ammar al-Hakim, Head of the Islamic Council and his delegation.

President Barzani welcomed the delegation and briefed Mr Hakim on the development of relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Mr Hakim initially expressed his condolences to President Barzani for his sister’s passing, and then discussed the current political situation and the Federal Government's relations with the Kurdistan region.

The two sides reviewed the provincial Council elections held recently and its results. Mr Hakim said citizens are interested in the light of the results and was held securely and stably, rejecting all kinds of tyranny

Both sides stressed that the political process is on track taking into account participation and balance and compatibility

Mr Hakim arrived in Erbil and was received at the airport by Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani
