President Masoud Barzani received a joint delegation of foreign missions in Erbil, consisting of Ms. Rosy Cave, Consul General of the United Kingdom in Erbil, Mr. Jaco Beerends, Consul General of the Netherlands in Erbil and Mr. Klaus Streicher  , Tolked Beg Head of the European Union Delegation in Erbil and Katrien Kroft, Head of the Political Department of the US Consulate General in Erbil.

 The participants exchanged views on the latest political developments and the political process in the Kurdistan Region and the upcoming elections. The guest delegation expressed their satisfaction with the announcement of a date for the elections in the Kurdistan Region and stressed the importance of holding elections and upholding democratic values.

 President Barzani briefed the guest delegation on the Kurdistan Region's commitment to the culture of democracy and elections and pointed out that the Kurdish people have made sacrifices to live freely and implement democratic values. And  ​​said that for the first time after the Kurdish people's uprising in 1991 he had proposed in Koya to substitute revolutionary legitimacy to constitutional legitimacy and hold elections.

  President Barzani stressed to the guest delegation that Kurdistan is above all other interests and in order to protect the legitimacy and values ​​of democracy, elections should be held on time in the Kurdistan Region this year. On the issue of the components’ participation he said that they will respect their decision and support their will.
