A Joint statement by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)

Today, Tuesday, November 7, 2023,  the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) held a joint meeting at the Headquarters of the (KDP) in Pirmam.

The meeting discussed the situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in particular and the sensitive situation in the region in general. Both sides stressed the need for coordination and cooperation, and the need to mobilise strength and capacity of all political forces and parties to protect the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region, and to formulate a joint strategy that is compatible with the course of events and developments.
Both sides agreed to strengthen common interests and resolve problems in the direction of Kurdistan's national and patriotic interests.

In another part of the meeting, emphasis was placed on supporting the steps of the Kurdistan Regional Government to secure financial entitlements and salaries of the Kurdistan Region within the framework of the permanent constitution of Iraq.

Finally, it was decided to continue the meetings and an appropriate mechanism was determined for this purpose. It is worth mentioning that the meeting was held in a calm and positive atmosphere.
