On Monday, President Masoud Barzani received the new Austrian Ambassador to Iraq, Andrea Nassi.

In the meeting, the Austrian Ambassador expressed his pleasure to meet President Barzani and spoke about the historical relations between the Kurdistan people and Austria and the development and promotion of relations between the two sides in terms of diplomacy, culture and economy.

In another part of the meeting, President Barzani congratulated the new Austrian Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his new assignment. He also referred to the friendly and historical relations between the Peoples of Kurdistan and Austria in the past and in the present while welcoming efforts to advance relations between the government of Austria and the  Federal government of Iraq and the Regional Government of Kurdistan.

Recent events in Iraq and tensions in the region in general were another topic of the meeting.
