President Barzani receives Ambassador of Spain to Iraq

President Masoud Barzani received on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Salahaddin, Mr. Pedro Martinez Avial,  Ambassador of Spain to Iraq.

During the meeting, the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq informed President Barzani that they have knowledge and are aware of the history and struggle of the people of Kurdistan and the tragedies and oppression they were exposed to. He expressed his high appreciation for the spirit of steadfastness of the people of Kurdistan, appreciating the development and progress achieved in the Kurdistan Region, and described the region as a role model to be followed in other parts of Iraq

The Iraqi political situation and relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government were other topics of the meeting.

 

President Barzani referred to the struggle of the people of Kurdistan and their endless sacrifices to obtain their rights and achieve stability for Iraq as a whole, stressing that everyone must take lessons from history and the mistakes of the past, and stressed that abiding by the constitution and resorting to dialogue and understanding are the best way to address problems and establish stability and development in Iraq.

 

The meeting also touched on the internal situation in the Region and strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Spain.
