The Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye visited the Foreign Relations Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

Hoshyar Siwaily Head of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), welcomed Mr. Erman Topcu, the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Siwaily congratulated Mr. Topcu on his new assignment, wishing him success and emphasizing the importance of coordination to strengthen the relations between the Kurdish and Turkish peoples. During the meeting, they discussed the latest regional developments.

Mr. Erman Topcu thanked Mr. Siwaily for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye. He noted that the Kurdish and Turkish peoples are historical neighbors with shared interests that necessitate cooperation and joint efforts. The Turkish government is committed to strengthening these relations. He addressed the challenges posed by the PKK in the border areas, which have affected citizens on both sides. Mr. Topcu reiterated Türkiye's stance on defending its stability and development, confronting any force or group that threatens the country's peace. Türkiye is dedicated to ensuring stability, fighting terrorism, fostering development, and preserving the spirit of brotherhood among the region's nations to provide a decent and non-violent life for all.

The meeting also touched on the upcoming elections in Kurdistan and internal relations within Iraq. They exchanged views on the regional situation, the international impact, and economic development. The discussion included trade and transportation, focusing on a significant Development Road project involving Iraq and Türkiye. Despite various challenges, there was a consensus on the need for enhanced coordination between the federal and regional governments of Kurdistan and the Turkish government.
