President Barzani Receives Senior British Political and Military Advisor

President Masoud Barzani welcomed Admiral Edward Elgren, Senior Political and Military Advisor to the British Government for Middle East and North African Affairs, along with his accompanying delegation, in Salahaddin on Thursday.

During the meeting, they discussed the political and security landscape in Iraq, with a particular focus on recent developments in the wider region. The discussions also highlighted the ongoing coordination between coalition forces and the Kurdistan Peshmerga, as well as the reforms currently underway within the Peshmerga Ministry.

President Barzani expressed his deep gratitude to the British government for its steadfast support of the Peshmerga in their fight against ISIS. He also conveyed his appreciation for the UK's continued commitment to assisting the Peshmerga Ministry in its reform efforts.

Another key point of the discussion was the future role of coalition forces in Iraq and the ongoing threat posed by terrorism to the country and the region as a whole.
