President Barzani receives a delegation from the Parliament of Norway

President Masoud Barzani received a delegation from the Norwegian Parliament, consisting of Mr. Asmund Okrust and Mr. Mani Husseini, MPs from the Norwegian Labour Party.

The Norwegian parliamentary delegation explained the purpose of their visit to the Kurdistan Region and discussed the role of their country in the fight against terrorism, as well as mine clearance and assistance to NGOs in the Kurdistan Region. The guest delegation stressed the friendship and relations between the people of Norway and the people of Kurdistan and said that their country supports the stability of the Kurdistan Region.

President Barzani thanked the Norwegian people and government for their assistance to the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces in the fight against terrorists and praised the significant role of the Norwegian government in helping the relevant parties to clear landmines in Kurdistan.

The two sides also discussed the political situation in Iraq and the region, relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq, as well as the Kurdistan parliamentary elections scheduled for October.
