President Barzani receives Ambassador of France to Iraq

President Masoud Barzani received, on Monday, November 11, 2024, in the Salahaddin Resort, Ambassador Patrick Durel, the French Ambassador to Iraq.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Mr. Yann Braem, the French Consul General in Erbil, the French Ambassador expressed his congratulations to President Barzani on the success of the Kurdistan Parliament elections, appreciating the high turnout of the Region's citizens in the elections that were held last October in a calm and democratic atmosphere.

For his part, President Barzani considered the high turnout of citizens in the elections and the successful organization of the process as a major support for legitimacy and institutionalism in the region, and thanked the international community and other parties for monitoring the conduct of the elections.

During the meeting, the political situation in Iraq and the region, and the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, were discussed and evaluated, and the bonds of friendship and relations between the Kurdish and French peoples were emphasized.

In another part of the meeting, the French Ambassador expressed his thanks to President Barzani for his support and sponsorship of the centenary celebration of the birth of Mrs. Danielle Mitterrand, which will be held in Erbil on November 12, 2024.
