President Barzani stressed the importance of partnership in Iraq in meeting with Mr Nicolae Maldinov, the Special Envoy of United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq.

During the meeting they discussed the latest political developments in Iraq, the

Iraqi elections and the elections for the Kurdistan governorates.

The Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq was pleased

that the elections in Kurdistan and Iraq were successful, and wished that the

results contribute to the improvement of the security conditions and the end of

the current political crisis.

Regarding the Kurdish participation in the next Government, and the political

process in Iraq, President Barzani focused on the importance of partnership

within the Iraqi Government, but must wait for the official result of the

elections in order to outline the formation of the Iraqi Government.

During the meeting, Mr Maldinov expressed his own support, as well as the

support of international organisations to help Iraqi political parties resolve

disputes and solve political problems through meetings and dialogue.
