President Barzani discusses military operations with the German Defence Minister

his participation at the Munich Security Conference, President Barzani discussed military operations with the German Defence Minister, Ursula von der Leyen,

During the meeting they also discussed a range of issues including the IS crisis, economic hardship and German support for the Kurdistan Region.

Von der Leyen highlighted the remarkable victories scored by Peshmerga forces against the IS jihadists in the North of Iraq, promising German military support for the Kurdish forces to continue in the future.

The Peshmerga’s need for further military support and the latest developments on the frontlines against IS were also on the agenda.

During the Munich Security Conference, president Barzani met several other officials in Germany to discuss the referendum, the war with IS, and the financial crisis in the Region.
