President Masoud Barzani Receives President Trump’s Envoy for Syrian Affairs and the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey

President Masoud Barzani received Ambassador Tom Barrack, President Trump’s envoy for Syrian affairs and the U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye, and his accompanying delegation today, Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Pirmam.

During the meeting, held in the presence of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Ambassador Barrack conveyed President Trump’s greetings and appreciation to President Barzani. He also expressed his appreciation for President Barzani’s role in the peace process and in easing recent developments in Syria.

The meeting discussed the situation in Syria and the latest developments on the ground, stressing the need to rely on dialogue, mutual understanding, and peaceful means to resolve existing problems and disputes.

In another part of the meeting, President Barzani expressed his gratitude for the role of the United States in helping Syrian parties reach solutions, emphasizing the importance of guaranteeing the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria’s future.
