The Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani held talks in Baghdad on Friday with his Iraqi counterpart Haidar al-Abadi and a number of government officials to discuss the current developments and relations between the two sides.
They exchanged views on the economic crisis, outstanding disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, and looked for ways to resolve issues and enhance relations in order to effectively combat against the Islamic State terrorist organisation. Mr Barzani emphasised on the positive impact coordinating will have as they look to liberate Mosul from IS extremists.
Both sides also touched on the new formation of the Iraqi government and taking into account the constitutional and legal rights of the Kurdish people in the selection, where Mr Barzani openly requested for better treatment of the Kurdistan Region from Iraq.
