Chancellor and Head of Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani said a prime example of a peaceful split between two regions can be sought from the dissolution of Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Mr Barzani made the comments during a meeting with Czech Republican Deputy Interior Minister Jiri Novaeck in Erbil in Thursday for talks which focused on the political, economic and humanitarian situation in the region.
According to a statement released by the KRSC, Mr Barzani touched on the current instability in the region adding that over a century ago Europe drew influence on the political mainland without considering the population's viewpoints.
He highlighted the Czech Republic and Slovakia split in 1993 and stressed the Kurdistan region and Iraq can solve disputes over Kurdish statehood using this experience; later mentioning Kurds are fully ready to initiate talks with the central government in Baghdad.
Mr Barzani thanked the Czech Republic government for its role in supporting Kurdistan in the war against the so-called Islamic State where he reiterated aiding the Peshmerga should be a top priority to the international community.
For his part, Mr Novaeck praised the Peshmerga forces for their courageous militray achievements and emphasised his country's ongoing support to Kurdistan will increase, stressing Prague will look to speed up supplies.
