The centre in Zakho was opened by Omed Khoshanw, Secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union, along with other Kurdistan Democratic Party officials and government representative.
The centre in Choman was opened by Mr Khoshnaw with the Mayor of Choman and representatives of the Barzani Charity. Many local young people also attended both events.
These youth centres are among the facilities that the Kurdistan Democratic Youth Union provides for young people throughout Kurdistan. The organisation was founded in 1953 to promote the rights of young people and to represent their interests. Several Kurdish leaders began their early careers in the Youth Union before going on to more senior political roles.
