President Barzani’s Message on the Anniversary of the Uprising

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

On the thirty-fifth anniversary of the outbreak of the Kurdistan people’s uprising, I extend my warmest congratulations to the families of our righteous martyrs, to the heroic Peshmerga, to the beloved people of Kurdistan, and to all patriots, freedom fighters, and noble individuals who played a role in achieving this valuable accomplishment for our people.

The uprising was the result and continuation of the struggle and sacrifices of the steadfast masses and forces of Kurdistan over decades. This momentous event—filled with pride and glory for every Kurdistani individual, now and in the future—embodies a message of resilience and refusal to surrender, reaffirming the values of freedom and the will to live with dignity and honor.

As our region goes through highly complex and sensitive circumstances, we hope that all issues and disputes in the area find their way to resolution through peaceful means. For our part, we will do everything within our power to ensure that Kurdistan remains distant from war, tragedies, and misery, and continues to be protected and secure.

On this blessed anniversary, we salute the martyrs of the uprising and all martyrs on the path to the freedom of the Kurds and Kurdistan.

Masoud Barzani
